It's 2:30pm on a Sunday afternoon, and patrons disembark from The Limited at Springfield about 60 days before this named-train would become a part of the disappearing railroad blues in the U.S. Members of the NWI-NRHS in Rockford decide to a take a field trip on this train, returning home later that day on Sringfield's other passenger line, the Green Diamond route of the IC. There would be about 3 hours to kill between trains, enough time to walk to the State Capitol and visit other landmarks.
