Remarks & Notes
In the early 1900s, Maine's 2-foot railroads represented the only link to the outside world for many rural communities. Facilities, equipment and procedures were decidedly unsophisticated. The reliability of these lines was largely due to the skill, dedication and hard work of the men who built, maintained and operated them. This recreation was photographed in 2008 at the Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway Museum. For other "period" photos of this line click here and here and here.
