Snow in the Tehachapi Mountains is a relatively rare treat. This February morning saw upwards of 6 inches in downtown Tehachapi, but a mere 10 railroad miles away, the tracks have dropped significantly and the decorative powder is limited to the surrounding higher elevations. A BNSF pumpkin leads a stack train out of South Woodford up the mountain toward the famous Tehachapi Loop, Mojave, Barstow, and points east.
