“No Room for the Red Extra at Blue Hour”

At blue hour on the evening of February 1st, 2026, CDOT Extra 6703, powered by CTrail/CTDX P40BH 6703, holds for track space at Division Post on the Shore Line in New Haven, Connecticut, just east of the eastern limits of the New Haven Line. The extra is towing disabled Amtrak Regional train 161 to New Haven after its electric locomotive encountered mechanical issues. With a shortage of rescue power, a CTDOT diesel set was drafted in to assist.
