Passengers will continue to enjoy a one-seat ride to and from Washington, DC, though the locomotive on the point will wear a different color. Pictured below is a CTrail P40 durability test train operating along the Shore Line with a Regional-sized consist of Amfleet equipment.*
*In reality, on a snowy February 1st, 2026, CDOT Extra 6703, powered by CTrail/CTDX P40BH 6703, tows disabled Amtrak Regional train 161 west through Niantic, Connecticut along the Shore Line. The ACS-64 originally leading the train encountered mechanical issues, and with a shortage of rescue power, a spare CTDOT diesel set was drafted in to assist.
