Serving Beckerle On The Piermont Branch. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the creation of Conrail on April 1, 1976, let’s turn the clock back to Sunday, May 28, 1995. There was one customer on the former New Jersey and New York Railroad/Pascack Valley Line (PVL) that was on the east end of the Piermont Branch - Beckerle Lumber in Spring Valley, New York. They were usually served on the weekends, as there was no passenger service on Saturdays or Sundays on the PVL at that time. That day, Conrail 7604 (née-CO 3884, GP38, 12/1967 and Conrail 8132 (née-PC 8132, GP38-2, 2/1973) delivered a single box car, then left as lite power. For geographic reference, the Bank of New York building in the background is across the street from the Spring Valley train station. On the other side of the fenced area on the engineer's side is the former Thiells-Mt. Ivy Branch that today exists only as the lead to Woodbine Yard. In 2026, the tracks are still in place but unused, protected by a derail.
