Pumps to Pelham |
On the night of March 23, 2026, R110A pump cars were transferred from Coney Island Yard in Brooklyn to Westchester Yard in the Bronx. R255 hybrid locomotives HL001, HL014, and HL017 led the train, towing R110A pump cars P8001 - P8005 (original car numbers prepended with a "P"), R252 flat car F881, and R72 pump flat PF219. The R110A "B" cars (cabless, of the A-B-B-B-A married sets) had been converted to hose reach cars in 2013 and 2014, but the "A" cars are fresh out of rebuilding, having been sent out in 2022 and returned in 2025. This is one of the first times that a full 5-car set of R110A cars has been reunited since their conversion began!
The train is seen here passing through 125th Street Station on the IRT Lexington Avenue Line, having turned using one of the two loops on this line (South Ferry or City Hall) to keep the locomotives leading up the Pelham Line.
