Freight traffic on Albania’s railways is extremely limited today and, in practice, is concentrated mainly on the Fier–Vlorë section, where operations are handled by a private company, Albrail. The core of this traffic consists of oil-related products, primarily crude oil and refined petroleum, typically transported in tank wagons between the oil facilities around Fier and the port of Vlorë. The Fier–Vlorë line effectively represents the last consistently active freight corridor in the Albanian railway system.
