Remarks & Notes
It is Opening Day for the New York Yankees, and they are playing the rivals, the Boston Red Sox. And that is a combination for a sold-out game!

And it is also a a day that vintage subway cars (preserved and restored by Railway Preservation Corp.) are placed in service to haul excited fans to the game, including a few Red Sox fans.

This train consists of four Lo-V (Low-Voltage) subway motor cars, NYCT 5292-NYCT 5290-NYCT 5483-NYCT 5443, each built for the old Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT) by Pullman Company from 1916-1922, then by American Car and Foundry in 1924 and 1925. (Pressed Steel Car Company is also listed as a builder, but no dates were given.) A total of 1,020 of these cars were built – 725 motor cars and 295 unpowered trailers. After 47 years of service, most of these cars were retired in 1963, with a few remaining in service until February 1964 – although a few of the trailer cars saw service into early late 1969.

And, for those who may be wondering, the Yankees won the game 6-5 in 11 innings.

... And, for fairness, I'll include stadiums for other sports as well ...
