Tren Maya is a 1,554 km-long inter-city railway in Mexico that traverses the Yucatán Peninsula. These ES44ACs are being used by Tren Maya for dynamic testing of its new freight service. The operation is overseen by the Ministry of National Defense and forms part of the federal government’s plan to expand the railway’s role beyond passenger services.
