This San Bernardino, CA, Z train crosses the 4,082-foot-long Missouri Bridge on the Marceline Sub near Sibley. Only 2 single-track places exist on the Southern transcon still, and both are bridges. The Sibley Bridge Company was chartered in 1888 to construct a Missouri River bridge at Sibley. The bridge was opened in 1915, at approximately 90 feet with 396-foot main spans. It looks like BNSF will continue to work towards double-tracking this bridge in the near future.
