Union Pacific Railroad operates a unit rock train between a quarry in Beaumont, in the western San Gorgonio Pass, to Gardena, southwest of downtown Los Angeles. This train, symbolled RWCWCG (technically West Colton Yard to
West Colton Yard, because that is where it originates and terminates), rounds the curve just west of El Casco, in San Timoteo Canyon, as it heads west. The train is just 9 miles (14.5 km) into its journey to Gardena. This train is powered by AC4400CWs 7161 and 7114 on this, its western end, and ES44AC 7503 and AC4400CW 7238 on its eastern end.
In the distance is Mount San Jacinto, at a height of 10,834 feet (3,302 meters) above sea level, but rising 8,319 feet (2,536 meters) above the San Gorgonio Pass and adjacent to Palm Springs on its eastern side.
