BNSF GP39E 2931, is one of the first locomotives to carry Burlington Northern Santa Fe markings. No other locomotives wore this exact scheme (BNSF 2911's scheme was similar, but not identical). The 2931 was built by EMD as Union Pacific GP35 746. When UP retired this engine, it was rebuilt by EMD to what Burlington Northern called a GP39E and numbered BN 2931.
