Remarks & Notes
Why they called Conrail “Big Blue” - a couple Dash8-40CWs are spliced by an SD50 leading a westbound manifest out of Altoona, PA at the Brickyard Crossing on an October morning. The symbol is a long-shot run from Camden, NJ to Elkhart, IN (CAEL). While the LMS logo was rather uninspiring, the units were later given the “Conrail Quality” logo. CR was in its prime and had become a pretty lean outfit. It should have remained rather than been broken up. Fuji Velvia.
