Remarks & Notes

The hottest train on the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway, the Super C piggyback train, crests the summit of Cajon Pass on a snowy March morning. This piggyback train has a faster schedule between Los Angeles and Chicago than Amtrak's Southwest Limited has! As usual, this morning's train has a quartet of SD45-2 diesels for power, with ATSF 5694 on the point.
