Crossing the Mojave River on one of the BNSF Railway’s two through truss bridges spanning it is a Union Pacific intermodal freight with ES44AC 5425 and SD70M 4491. Union Pacific has trackage rights on the BNSF from Riverside (about 50 miles east of Los Angeles) to Yermo (in the Mojave Desert), a holdover from BNSF Railway predecessor Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe.
