With the timetable change on December 14, the new connection from Basel SBB via the freight station with the 360-meter-long Donnerbaum Bridge to Muttenz was officially put into operation. As a rule, two Interregio and six S-Bahn trains run hourly on this new route, which crosses the three-track main line from Basel SBB to Muttenz. The newly introduced S33 line runs every half hour between Basel SBB and Liestal, supplementing the existing S3 Laufen-Basel-Olten line and thus providing a quarter-hourly service between Basel and Liestal. Train 17539 of the S33, a four-car Domino push-pull train with RBDe 560 railcar, is on its way to Muttenz on the Donnerbaum Bridge.
