On the morning of July 28th, 2025, the crews of Metro-North Railroad Waterbury Deadhead Trains 1186 and 1188 swapped trainsets on the Track 2/4 platform at Stamford, Connecticut, on the New Haven Line. The 1186 crew prepared to take the set on Track 4, led by Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Brookville BL20GHM #129, which had originally been brought out as 1188. Meanwhile, the 1188 crew readied the adjacent set, led by CTDOT/CTrail EMD GP40-3H #6699, to return to the yard after it experienced multiple issues shortly after departure. Once back in the yard, the 1188 crew swapped equipment again. The move was made to reduce delays to 1186 and its revenue turn.
