Remarks & Notes
BNSF Office Car Special Over The Hell Gate Bridge. On Monday, September 29, 2025, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Office Car Special was brought from the Long Island Rail Road Garden City–Mitchel Field Secondary in Garden City, New York to CSX Oak Point in the Bronx, New York. It was determined that the cars had presented with clearance issues on MTA Metro-North Railroad, and may have hit the third rail had it continued, so the route was changed and the cars were modified to rectify the situation. This highly unusual move is to bring the train to Long Island Railroad (LIRR) to serve as the railroad's base of operations for business during the upcoming Ryder Cup PGA competition at Black Course at Bethpage State Park. The 14-car train was parked while on Long Island, and not operated prior to the end of the event. Long Island Railroad handed the train off to CSX at the New York & Atlantic Railway Fresh Pond Yard. Afterwards, it was planned for Amtrak to take it in the Bronx, but mechanical problems developed with the Amtrak locomotives, and the train was tied down for the night. As seen here, the various changes led to CSX L017 neing dispatched to bring the OCS to Oak Point Yard with CSXT 6205 leading over teh Hell Gate Bridge in daylight.
