Southern Pacific's Taylor Yard Shops always had an interesting assortment of locomotives to view.
On this day, SW1500 2533 is prominent on the right, although the majority of locomotives here are U33Cs. Tucked in the shop building is one of their two U25BEs, SP 6801. On the adjacent track is Burlington Northern SD40-2 6800, on long-term loan to the railroad while the SP evaluates the Locotrol systems installed in them. (The tests must have been successful, as the SP eventually purchased units with Locotrol in them.)
