During the Gotthard Railway Days, the Gotthard locomotive Re 6/6 # 11666 (Re 620 # 066) “Stein am Rhein,” which was taken over by SBB Historic last year, was officially used for the very first time. The locomotive is on its way as train 38715 from Erstfeld to Göschenen above Wassen, to serve as an electric brake locomotive on the steam train with the C 5/6 # 2978 on the descent. The locomotive was delivered to SBB by SLM, BBC, and MFO on February 24, 1978, and was used primarily on the Gotthard for decades. Its maximum load was 800 tons on the mountain route with a 26 o/oo gradient.
