Two intermodal trains are climbing toward Cajon Summit, but the BNSF train, Q-LACNWH6-19L, which appeared in the distance first, was quickly overtaken by Union Pacific Long Beach to Denver train Z-LBDV-19 (symbolled F-ZLBDV01-19Z on the BNSF, on whose trackage this is), which arrived at Summit first on Main 2. And, no wonder, as the BNSF computer lists it as only 10 cars in length! UP AC4400CW 5741 leads this train, along with AC4400CWs 6035, 5587, 6873 and ES44AC 7404 … 22,000 horsepower for just 10 cars.
Before the faster UP train had completely passed, BNSF Railway train Q-LACNWH6-19L crept into view on Main 3. This 71-car Guaranteed Service Intermodal train, heading from Los Angeles to North Baltimore, Ohio, has a trio of GE diesels – ES44AC 6040, Dash 9-44CW 4718 (still wearing its original "Superfleet" scheme) and SD70ACe 9284 – for power.
