“Fake Crayola Meet Over Rippowam”
On May 12th, 2025, Amtrak’s Crayola-wrapped ACS-64 locomotives #620 and #621 lead Regional Trains 86 and 85, respectively, across the Rippowam River on the New Haven Line in Stamford, Connecticut. Although the two trains were scheduled to meet at or near this bridge, delays on both sides resulted in their actual meet occurring several hundred feet away at Stamford Station. To depict how the meet was expected to occur under perfect conditions, which is rare on the railroad, I combined two images taken just minutes apart into a single composition.
620 and 621 are two locomotives wrapped in special Crayola schemes as part of a partnership to promote family travel and creative exploration. 620 features the color Dandelion, a golden yellow and one of the fan-favorite crayon colors brought back from retirement, and stars crayon character "Dan D," the Crayola Ambassador of Creativity. 621 features the color Violet Blue, and eight fan-favorite crayons that were brought back from retirement.
