| Ruling Grade.
San Francisco Municipal Railway (Muni) cable car 16 is seen climbing the 21% grade up Russian Hill - the steepest on the entire cable car network - as it rises away from the Fort Mason neighborhood below. The San Francisco Bay fills the entire background, with the Hyde Street Pier and Alcatraz Island both visible. Car 16 was built in 1990 by Muni forces, and is nowadays painted in 1940s Market Street Railway scheme. |
