Since 2012, members of the Zurich Steam Group (Verein Dampfgruppe Zürich VDZ) have been working on restoring the Eb 3/5 # 5811 steam locomotive (SLM 1912, owned by SBB Historic, on permanent loan to VDZ). The locomotive was on display as a monument in Baden from 1966 to 1974 and was then stored in Glarus until 2012. Progress is slow because work is only carried out occasionally and the main focus is on training young people for the work and ensuring the transfer of know-how. Here we see the locomotive's steam boiler, which is largely complete.
