The heavy 800 Hp fourcylinder compound 0-8-0 T cogwheel steamlocomotive HG 4/4 # 708 of the Dampfbahn Furka Bergstrecke (DFB) is shoving the 34 ton "Moyse" diesellocomotive Gm 3/3 # 233 (former Rhaetian Railway) up the 11 % grade below the Wiler bridge between Realp DFB and Tiefenbach. The Gm 3/3 has no cogwheel drive, but will be used for works in the Furka summit tunnel. The HG 4/4 # 708 was built in 1930 by SLM Winterthur for french Indochina, today Vietnam, and brought back to Switzerland in 1990 more or less as scrap (together wist sister # 704 built 1923). Both locomotives have been rebuilt like new in the Uzwil workshop of the DFB and will be operational in the 2025 season.
