| The heavy 0-8-0 fourcylinder compound cogwheel steamlocomotive HG 4/4 # 704 of the Dampfbahn Furka Bergstrecke (DFB), is running light down the Furka east ramp with 12 km/h, braked exclusively by the Riggenbach counterpressure brake. Engineer M.S. looks back from the driver's cab onto the track (this typ of locomotive always has to travel backwards downhill on the Furka) and has his right hand on the wheel of the high-pressure counterpressure brake. The boiler pressure is at its maximum of 14 bar (203 psi) (large round instrument). |
