Due to a tunnel collapse in Oregon's Siskiyou Mountains, the Los Angeles to Seattle Coast Starlight has been operating as a much shorter train, since the southern half of the route has been truncated to just Los Angeles to Sacramento. Southbound train 11 is seen in Hercules as it skirts San Pablo Bay. This day's train is powered by Dash 8-32BWH 503 and P42DC 53. (Hercules, California - June 16, 2018)
Running daily between Seattle and Los Angeles, this train offers running alongside the Pacific Ocean and through the Cascade Mountains. It has been one of Amtrak's long-distance success stories.
