Yarding At Sunset. On Saturday, January 11, 2025, New Jersey Transit's Conrail Heritage Unit, GP40PH-2B NJTR 4208 (ex-CR 3191, née-Penn Central 3191, EMD, GP40, 10/1968) led Train 2117 on the Pascack Valley Line. At the end of the run, the train was brought to Woodbine Yard in Spring Valley, New York for overnight storage. While most of the line was separate construction, after leaving Nanuet, it joins with the former Piermont Brach. After leaving the Spring Valley Station, the line separates again, and this yard is on the former Thiells-Mount Ivy Branch of the Erie Railroad (previously New Jersey & New York Railroad). This location might otherwise be unknown but for the photographs of Don Ball Jr. during the K-4 Pacific steam era, when he referred to the Erie as a "storybook railroad".
Photos from across RP of NJ Transit’s 40th Anniversary specially painted & wrapped units.
Also included are the fully wrapped Veterans & Pride tribute units.
Photos of the Pascack Valley Line. This railroad was built as the New Jersey and New York RR, falling under the control of Erie, Erie Lackawanna, Conrail and NJDOT before present passenger operator New Jersey Transit and freight carrier Norfolk Southern.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
