For my 18000th photo on Railpictures.net I have chosen an older photo from 2014. The last time it was still possible to travel from Winterthur station on the siding to the site of the Swiss Locomotive and Machine Factory (SLM), the connection was then cut and since then the whole site has been and is being built over with new buildings and conversions. A major event was organized to mark 750 years of Winterthur's town charter. Vehicles that were all assembled here were presented in the former assembly hall. From right to left: Cogwheel steam locomotive H 2/3 # 16 of the Rigi Bahnen built in 1923. Electric express locomotive Ae 4/7 # 11026 built in 1934 for the SBB, now owned by the Mikado 1244 association in Brugg AG. “Crocodile” Be 6/8 III # 13302 built in 1926 for the SBB Gotthard line, now owned by SBB Historic and operated by the 13302 operating group in Rapperswil. Electric locomotive Be 4/6 # 12320, built in 1921 for the SBB Gotthard line, today at SBB Historic Group Winterthur. The large assembly hall of the Schweizerische Lokomotiv- und Maschinenfabrik (SLM) in Winterthur was built in 1918 with a wooden girder roof, the lower steel construction was added later. It is a listed building and a casino is currently being built inside, while the exterior remains unchanged.
