After several days of traveling through Mauritania, the group from Switzerland met the railroad for the first time at noon that day in Choum. A few minutes later, the empty ore train V5 from Nouadhibou to Zouérate came through the station and everyone watched, photographed or filmed the almost four-minute passage of the train, which was probably around two kilometers long. The wagon on the far left has no load, the diesel locomotive GPL-15T BB # 207 of the Train du Désert can be seen behind it. Normally there are up to three trains a day in each direction, but they are spread irregularly over 24 hours, so there can also be very long breaks. During the 6-hour journey from Choum to Zouérate, for example, no train came to meet us.
