Remarks & Notes
As morning dawns in the Mauritanian desert in Boulenouar at PK 95 at 07.18 AM, there is fog on the ground. The work train with new concrete ties and the GPL-15T CC # 210, which had arrived from Nouadhibou in the evening, will soon leave the station heading east to unload the ties. SNIM has had its own plant for the production of concrete ties in Nouadhibou for around 10 years. The 650-kilometre line is increasingly being converted from steel and wooden ties to the heavier concrete ties in order to increase the maximum axle load from 26 to 30 tons.
