SNIM's central workshop in Nouadhibou for the maintenance, overhaul and repair of locomotives and freight and passenger cars. On the more than 700-kilometre route through the Mauritanian desert, it is mainly the wheels of the vehicles that are severely affected by the fine sand and often have to be turned or replaced. In front of the workshop are, from left to right, the SD70ACS CC # 124, the GPL-15T BB # 208 and the SDL40-2 CC #114. The railroad now operates over 40 EMD diesel locomotives. The diesel engines have to be completely overhauled after around 1 million kilometers.
