Switching cars at the Riverside Cement Company in Oro Grande are two GP40s originally purchased by Western Pacific Railroad, and now owned by Harbor Rail Services: 3001 and 3002. HRSX 3001 was built in September 1971 as WP 3542, later sold to Chicago Missouri & Western (as their 3024) and then Wisconsin Central (also 3024). HRSX 3002 was originally WP 3541, which was repainted red, white and blue and renumbered WP 1976 for the American Bicentennial in the mid-1970s, then renumbered back to WP 3541 afterward. As with WP 3542, 3541 was also sold to the CMNW (first retaining the number 3541, then renumbered 3023), later becoming Gateway Western Railroad 3023 before, eventually, also joining WC (as 3023). These two Geeps worked this plant for at least four years, as I first saw them here in 2013, and last spotted them here in 2017. (Oro Grande, California – December 12, 2016)
