Manx Maintenance Machine.
Manx Electric Railway (MER) diesel locomotive 34 is seen crossing the A2 as it heads north out of Laxey. The car is a replica of one originally built by G.F. Milnes & Co. in 1895 as Snaefell Mountain Railway car 7, a freight motor used to deliver coal on to a power station near the Bungalow on the mountain railway.. Eventually car 7 fell into disuse and languished at the railway's depot until it had deteriorated beyond saving. In 1994, a replica of car 7 was built for a festival celebrating the line's centenary, but also saw limited use on the line. The replica car was later re-gauged to 3' gauge and renumbered to 34 for use on the MER, and the original car 7 was scrapped.
