Surrounded By Stone At Melville. The Newport and Narragansett Bay Railroad is a heritage railroad that operates the Newport Dinner Train on Aquidneck Island in the area of Newport/Portsmouth, Rhode Island. In cooperation with the Old Colony and Newport Railway, museum equipment is maintained and the idea of running more and different kinds of trips is being explored. Using an RDC (Rail Diesel Car) still in British Columbia rail paint - BC-15 (ex-Wilton Scenic, exx-BCOL BC-15, exxx-VIA 6102, née-CN D102, RDC 1 , Budd, 2/1957) and GE 80-Tonner NNB 14 (Ex-Northeast Utilities 14/GECX 14, 1941), a group was brought to the end of track in Portsmouth with photo stops along the way on Sunday, August 18, 2024. In 2007-2008, the railroad bridge connecting Portsmouth to Tiverton, Rhode Island was removed, isolating this portion of the railroad. As an added bonus, the group was invited to stay while newly acquired NNB 65-00566 (Ex-USN 65-00566, 65-Tonner, GE, 1945) switched around the yard at the end of the day.
