"FVD" (Fernverkehr Doppelstockzug/doubledeck train for long distances) RABDe 502 # 008 "Lausanne Ville Olympique" and # 006 "Olten" of the SBB in multiple control are running the IC 714 of the line IC1 from St.Gallen via Winterthur-Zürich-Bern-Fribourg-Lausanne-Geneva to Geneva Airport, between Winterthur and Winterthur Tössmühle. A few days ago, SBB announced that the bogies of the trains are to be rebuilt in cooperation with Alstom (legal successor to the supplier Bombardier) in order to improve the sometimes very uneven running behavior. The work is to begin with a prototype in 2025 and, if successful, all 62 trains are to be converted by 2030 during normal maintenance. The running behavior of the trains, which has earned them the widespread term “shaking train”, was mainly caused by the roll compensation or the design of the bogies required for this. The use of roll compensation to reduce running times had already been rejected earlier for reasons of comfort.
