Last October, the Rhaetian Railway parked the 6 ABe 4/4 # 51 to # 56 railcars on the Bernina line. As a result, during the summer half-year, when the various Bernina Express trains are running, there is now an average shortage of around 2 “Allegra” dual-current railcars (ZTZ) to cover all services, especially on the Bernina and to Arosa. For this reason, push-pull trains with Ge 4/4 IIs are now used between Chur and Arosa, and freight trains are also operated with two Ge 4/4 IIs. Freight train 5446 from Arosa to Chur is street running on the Sand street along the Plessur river at Chur Sand with Ge 4/4 II # 618 and # 617 in multiple control and two empty Fac gravel cars. The two entry switches in Chur Sand can be cut open and are automatically returned to the right-hand position. The train will therefore travel on the track leading to the left, while trains traveling in the opposite direction will travel on the other track (where the car is now) and “cut open” the switches.
