Rolling south through the verdant San Joaquin Valley (using less than 1% of U.S. farmland, the San Joaquin Valley supplies 8% of U.S. agricultural output (by value) and produces one-quarter of the Nation's food, including 40% of the Nation's fruits, nuts, and other table foods) is Union Pacific train MRVLAX-19 (Manifest, Roseville CA to Los Angeles CA, Extra). This train has three diesels up front (UP ES44AC 6803, SD70ACe 8472 and AC4400CW 6289) and two more on the rear (ES44ACs 7971 and 7653). After operating across 250 miles or so of flat, level track, in roughly 55 miles the grades to climb over the Tehachapi Mountains will begin. (Pixley, California – June 19, 2023)
