Alleghany Ascents:
AMTK 331, a new charger, leads the eastbound Cardinal out of the Alleghany Tunnel, as it passes a loaded coal train on track one on the left side of the frame. The elevation of this stretch of track is over 2,000 feet.
Powerful members of Congress once helped this scenic state get levels of service not seen elsewhere. Now the Capitol Limited and Cardinal are all that remain.
