Amtrak train 821, the southbound Heartland Flyer, speeds south from Oklahoma City OK to Fort Worth TX. The carrier’s Phase IV Heritage diesel, P42DC 164, leads the 3-car train, with another P42DC (AMTK 44) on the rear, has departed Gainesville and is about to cross Spring Creek Road. The Lone Star State is big on route mileage but small on passenger service with only three routes for the second biggest state by size and population. Offerings include the Sunset Limited, Texas Eagle and Heartland Flyer.
