There was a lot of interesting equipment in the San Luis & Rio Grande's yard in Alamosa when I visited. On the left is a former Southern Pacific caboose, Railroad Passenger Car Numbering Bureau (RPCX) 1043, next to that is SLRG B39-8E 8548 (ex-MMA 8548; ex-GECX 8548; née-LMX 8548) and, one more train over, SLRG B39-8E 8577 (ex-RLCX 8577; née-LMX 8577) which, unlike the 8548, wears full SLRG paint. Barely seen are several F-units (coupled to 8548) and an MK GP40FH-2 diesel (coupled to 8577). It was definitely worth a visit. (Alamosa, Colorado – August 7, 2015)
