Having stopped at the station in Fullerton for a red block, Santa Fe's "Bandini Turn" smokes it up as the caboose hop accelerates once the clear signal appears. A pair of B36-7 diesels (7489 and 7493, the two culprits causing all the black smoke) are in the lead, followed by some GPs (GP35s 3448 and 3389, and GP30 3242 - still in the pre-1972 scheme) and CE-2 class caboose 999345. The train is passing the former Union Pacific Fullerton station, recently moved into the parking lot of the Santa Fe station to become an Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant. Aside from Warbonnets and Chiefs, Santa Fe was a workaday railroad like any other. This album showcases that less glamorous--but no less vital--side of the famous ATSF.
