| NOBLE OK June 4 1979 — Santa Fe GP38 3540 and seven other B-truck units handle train 185. EMD built the unit in August 1970 (s/n 36576) and delivered it in Bookends livery with blue body and yellow ends.After August 26 1972 it was repainted in blue body with yellow warbonnet. In July 1985 it was rebuilt in the Cleburne TX shops as a GP38u and renumbered to ATSF 2340. Upon the Sept 22 1995 merger it was transferred to BNSF. On September 29 1998 it became BNSF 2230. At an unknown date it was Laid Up Beyond Economic Repair and sold to Larry’s Truck Electric and became LTEX 2230. At an unknown date it was traded to BNSF and in October 2015 was rebuilt as a GP39-3Q by National Railway Equipment Co. in Paducah KY and became BNSF 2572. Corrections and/or additions welcome.
