A trio of switchers await the call to duty at the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway's Hobart Yard, not far from downtown Los Angeles. These three SW9s – ATSF 2423, 2425 and 2428 – are among those ATSF SW9s equipped with non-standard vents on the hood doors, while others have louvers as all other SW9s had. All three of these were renumbered into the 1400s, and later rebuilt into "SSB1200" diesels and numbered in the 1200s. Many of these eventually ended up with Amtrak: ATSF 2428/1428/1228 became AMTK 560. (Commerce, California – March 10, 1973)
