Remarks & Notes
Gone but not Forgotten. New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA) R142 no. 1210 (Bombardier, 1999-2003) is the lead motor on a Manhattan-bound (4) train seen approaching Yankee Stadium. The train is passing over the abandoned connections to the 9th Ave El, which merged with the Jerome Avenue Line here. The majority of the elevated line was torn down in 1940, but a short spur extending south from here lasted another 18 years as a shuttle service to the now demolished Polo Grounds stadium.
