D&RGW #473 and #476 bark along Cement Wall deep within the Animas River Canyon outside of Durango, Colorado on October 16, 2023. #473 and #476 saw extensive use on freight train service from Salida to Gunnison and on the Crested Butte Branch for the D&RGW. Later they would be used on the famed narrow gauge passenger train, the San Juan Express, from Alamosa to Durango, CO.
