| An empty coal train rolls west on Union Pacific's line from North Platte to the C&NW connection at Morill, WY headed back for another load in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming. At this time C&NW/UP were just getting started in providing competition to BN for Powder River Basin coal shipments. In the early 2000s traffic would peak at approximately 120 trains daily between BN/UP before pressure on the coal industry would result in decline volumes. |
