New York Central on the New York Central. Metro-North's latest heritage unit has been painted in the famous New York Central Lightning Stripe scheme and is making its revenue debut on train 728 out of Croton-Harmon. Here the trains is seen catching a patch of the day's first light as it approaches a stop at Scarborough along what was originally the New York Central's Water Level Route.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
With three lines radiating north out of Grand Central Terminal plus service to Port Jervis on the former Erie, Metro North covers a wide swatch of New York's northern suburbs with varying terrains.
