Two Montana Rail Link remote switchers work simultaneously at the east end of MRL’s large yard at Laurel, Montana, on the morning of October 8, 2023. For many years, former cabooses carried remote equipment so any locomotive off the roster could be utilized for this service. The day before, these caboose/RCL cars were still being used. But by the next morning these two MRL SD40-2XRs, now fully-equipped with the necessary RCL apparatus, switch cars at the yard.
